BERKSHIRE INVERTEBRATE GROUP

Until recently recorders of many invertebrate orders in Berkshire have been relatively poorly supported by expert forums compared to other counties.

A new group, part of the British Entomological and Natural History Society (BENHS), which conveniently has its headquarters at Dinton Pastures Country Park near Hurst, has therefore been set up to afford taxonomic assistance to recorders to facilitate accurate recording of invertebrates in the county.

The group is composed mainly of recognised experts in invertebrate biology living in and around Berkshire, or, more accurately, VC22.  It is intended that as many different  types of invertebrate as possible will be represented by the group, although as moth and butterfly recording is very expertly run by the Berkshire Moth Group, Lepidoptera will not be a main focus of the new group.
