Meeting point TF69876 15829 at 8.00pm. A joint meeting with the Norfolk Moth Group. Car-parking under trees.
East Winch Common SSSI is a Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve.
The site is 31 hectares in area and an island of heathland biodiversity surrounded by farmland, all be it with some thickly wooded hedgerows and field boundaries. Approximately 150 species of larger moths have been recorded from the site, as at the start of 2019, but almost all the records are prior to 2011 and some species have not been seen since the 1990s, so any recording we can do on this site is useful. The site should support at least 50 more species of macro-moths which are so far unrecorded.
The aim of this meeting is to update the records of as many of these species as possible and hopefully find some species which have not previously been recorded from this site, as well as to note as much as possible of the non-Lepidopteran wildlife.
