Meet at 20.30 at meet-up point TF 71868 10851, which is a small car-parking area down a no-through road called Hogg’s Drove near Donato’s Pizza & Kebab House on the main road through the small village of Marham. A joint meeting with Norfolk Moth Survey. Meeting point – entrance gate at south-east portion of the wood, on the minor road from Wendling to Longham. TF934 143. Post code for satnav NR19 2NG. Time 20.30. The site has a long wooded history and is possibly mentioned (indirectly) in the Domesday Book. It is ancient woodland with a chequered recent history. Yardley Chase Training Area (MOD), NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Leaders: Jeff Blincow and Keith Alexander The main BENHS saproxylic group meeting will be at the Yardley Chase Training Area. This is an MOD base about 6 miles south-east of Northampton in the extended Salcey Forest – Yardley Chase ancient forest. The area has been shown to be of outstanding interest for saproxylic insects and so there should be plenty for everyone to see.
