WANTED – A NEW JOURNAL EDITOR

Soon after joining the Society in 2001 I came across an advert in the journal for a new editor and thought this would fit nicely with my editorial duties with other journals.  Editing this journal has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience: corresponding with entomologists up and down the breadth of the UK, often being one of the first to be informed about insect species new to Britain as well as learning first hand new information about the biology of many fascinating insects observed in their natural habitats.  Experience of dealing with hypothesis-driven research would be beneficial.

The incumbent will need a willingness to interact with members and non-members, novices and experts alike, to locate suitable referees and to progress manuscripts to a stage ready for publication, deal with typesetters and printers. Computer and layout skills are a necessity.

It is a rewarding experience and you get to know a very wide section of the membership. If anyone is interested in taking over as Editor I am willing to discuss what the post entails: my email address and telephone number are inside the journal cover.
